Dr. Jonathan N. Stea, Ph.D., R. Psych., is a registered and practicing clinical psychologist and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. Clinically, he specializes in the assessment and treatment of concurrent addictive and psychiatric disorders. The two-time winner of the University of Calgary’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Supervision, he is the primary co-editor of a forthcoming academic book entitled Investigating Clinical Psychology: Fringe Science, Pseudoscience, and Controversies.
Dr. Stea has published extensively as a science communicator, regularly contributing to Scientific American and Psychology Today, as well as other outlets, including CBC, Toronto Star, and National Post. He has appeared in numerous mainstream media television and radio outlets, as well as podcasts, such as Global News and the Dr. Drew podcast. He was the 2022 recipient of the John G. Paterson Award from the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA), which is an annual award presented for the exceptional contribution to portraying psychological knowledge to the public. Dr. Stea has cultivated his strong social media presence in his quest to expose and protect against mental health misinformation and pseudoscience.
