Dr. Jonathan N. Stea is a registered clinical psychologist and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. Clinically, he specializes in the assessment and treatment of concurrent addictive and psychiatric disorders.
A two-time winner of the University of Calgary’s Award for Excellence in Clinical Supervision, Dr. Stea is the primary co-editor of the academic book Investigating Clinical Psychology: Fringe Science, Pseudoscience, and Controversies. He has cultivated a powerful social media presence dedicated to exposing and protecting the public against mental health misinformation and pseudoscience.
As a prominent science communicator, Dr. Stea regularly contributes to Scientific American and Psychology Today, with additional work appearing in the CBC, Toronto Star, and National Post. He has appeared on numerous mainstream media outlets and podcasts, including Global News and the Dr. Drew podcast. In 2022, he received the John G. Paterson Award from the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta for his exceptional contribution to portraying psychological knowledge to the public.
