Omar Abed

Author of The Book That Almost Rhymed (Penguin Group)

Omar Abed is a Palestinian-American entrepreneur and writer who spent a decade as a software engineer before transitioning into the world of storytelling. He self-published his first picture book, You, Me, and a Tree, as a personal tribute to his wife, and he continues to write fiction designed to engage both children and adults. By creating narratives that appeal to multiple generations, he aims to strengthen family bonds through the unique experience of a shared story.

In addition to his writing, Omar is an active member of his community in Northern Virginia, where he lives with his wife and son and serves as a volunteer basketball coach. His literary career includes the 2024 release of The Book That Almost Rhymed, published by Penguin Group and illustrated by Hatem Aly, which follows a boy’s humorous struggle to maintain a rhyme despite his sister’s absurd interruptions. He is also the author of Debug This Book, published by Caitlyn Dlouhy Books in late 2024, a project that blends his technical expertise with his passion for children’s literature.
