Julie Fingersh

Julie Fingersh is a writer, freelance journalist, and author of the literary memoir Stay: A Story of Family, Love & Other Traumas (Rowman & Littlefield, 2024). Her personal essays, editorials, and reporting explore culture, wellness, parenting, and the pursuit of a meaningful life.

Julie’s work has appeared in The New York Times, Oprah Magazine, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Huffington Post, and the Kansas City Star, among others. Her Substack, Take My Advice. I’m Not Using It, is the midlife sequel to the award-winning humor column she wrote in New York City for Billboard Publications.

Beyond her writing, Julie served as the founding executive director of Boston Cares, a nationally recognized model for community partnerships now in its third decade of service. A former regular guest on NPR, she once recruited General Colin Powell to keynote Boston’s inaugural citywide corporate service day. A Kansas City native, Julie has two adult children and lives with her husband in Marin County, California.
