Elevate Your Book

What might your book become with the right writer or collaborator by your side? Even the most accomplished authors rarely create books in isolation.

At Lucinda Literary, we represent professional writers with bestselling track records who partner with authors across genres—bringing deep industry experience to proposals and manuscripts alike.

Specialized Service Areas

Our collaborators tailor their approach to your specific book-writing needs, crafting a proposal or manuscript that is unmistakably yours—refined, rigorous, and market-ready.

  • Book Proposals: We specialize in crafting the 6-figure proposals that catch the attention of industry gatekeepers at Big Five houses.
  • Ghostwriting & Co-Authoring: For authors who need a true partner to move from the blank page to a high-quality manuscript.
  • Developmental Editing & Book Doctoring: For manuscripts that need structural refinement or a professional eye to meet the standards of major publishers.

Our Collaborators

We work with a curated group of experienced ghostwriters and book collaborators connected to top publishers and literary agencies. Their experience spans nonfiction, memoir, fiction, and thought leadership, with a strong emphasis on focus, structure, and voice.

Process & Fees

We begin with a discovery call to match you with a collaborator who fits your voice, vision, and subject matter. You’ll work one-on-one to develop a proposal or manuscript that reflects your story with clarity, confidence, and polish.

Lucinda Literary represents a premier list of writers who are deeply connected to the New York publishing industry. Because our collaborators bring a track record of winning six-figure proposals and contributing to national bestsellers, their fees are on the higher end of the market and vary based on experience and scope.

  • Book Proposal Development: Beginning at $15,000
  • Manuscript Ghostwriting: Beginning at $50,000

Guaranteed fees (rather than a royalty split) ensure our collaborators’ time and services at the highest level, and are therefore required. Payments are structured in halves or thirds.

Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve never worked with a collaborator before. How involved will I need to be?

The process is highly collaborative, but the level of involvement varies by project. Some authors prefer active participation at each stage; others rely more heavily on their collaborator for structure and development, and even full ghostwriting based on interviews. We tailor the process to support both the project and the author.

Can I still write the book myself?

Yes! The most successful projects are typically created in partnership with a creative writer and a publishing expert, and our collaborators love to work with any written material of yours, no matter what shape it’s in. You can engage your collaborator in any way that would be most helpful to you within the scope of the service selected.

How long does the process typically take?

Timelines vary depending on the complexity of the project, the level of collaboration involved, and the author’s availability. Proposal development may take several months, while manuscript development or ghostwriting engagements typically extend to 6 months or more. We will discuss expected timelines at the beginning of the process.

Why do collaboration services require a significant investment?

Professional collaborators do far more than edit sentences. They bring publishing strategy, market knowledge, structural expertise, and experience helping projects reach a publishable standard. Many of our collaborators have contributed to bestselling books, major publishing deals, and six-figure proposals. The investment reflects both the depth of work involved and the caliber of expertise guiding the project.

Can working with a collaborator improve my chances of getting published?

Working with a collaborator does not guarantee representation or publication. However, collaboration can substantially strengthen the elements publishers evaluate most closely: concept clarity, market positioning, proposal quality, narrative structure, and overall execution. Stronger materials create stronger opportunities.

I may hybrid or self-publish. Am I still eligible to work with a collaborator?

While our collaborators specialize in traditional publishing projects, their expertise lends itself to projects of all kinds with the right commercial potential and author behind it.

If I hire a book collaborator represented by Lucinda Literary, am I guaranteed an agent or a publishing deal?

Working with a book collaborator is at the author’s will and investment. We cannot guarantee that Lucinda Literary or any other agency will offer representation, or that a publisher will make an offer. However, investing in a collaborator not only improves the quality of your book but can drastically improve your chances of getting noticed by agents and receiving a publishing deal. As Lucinda Literary oversees the work of our collaborators, we are closely attuned to each stage of the proposal and can lend our review and feedback.
